Symptoms

When you try to upgrade to the latest version of Windows on a computer that is running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 and that has an Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Core i5 processor, or Intel Core i3 processor installed, Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (DPTF) drivers cause the operating system upgrade to roll back to the system version from which you started the upgrade.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a bug in the Intel DPTF driver that blocks the upgrade.
