This article describes an issue that occurs when the MS Mincho font is assigned for the TextBox control in Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. You can resolve this issue by using the update in this article. Before you install this update, check out the Prerequisites section.
Symptoms
Assume that a Windows Store application has the MS Mincho font as the assigned font for the text box. It is expected that all the text in the text box should use the MS Mincho font except that the font does not have glyphs. However, another Japanese font is randomly used for the text. Therefore, the string is displayed as an unexpected layout in the text box.
How to obtain this update
Important Do not install a language pack after you install this update. If you do, the language-specific changes in the update will not be applied, and you will have to reinstall the update. For more information, see Add language packs to Windows.
