server, you cannot download the updates. You may also see one of the following
error messages in the upper-right corner of the Web page: [Error number: 0x80244017] [Error number: 0x80244018] [Error number: 0x80244019] [Error number: 0x8024401B] [Error number: 0x80244021] CAUSEWindows XP uses Microsoft Windows HTTP Services (WinHTTP) to
communicate with the Windows Update Web site. Windows XP also the Background
Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) to download updates. The error messages
that are mentioned in the "Symptoms" section indicate the following:
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, make sure that the proxy server or
the firewall is configured for anonymous access to the Windows Update Web site.

Network Monitor Capture Utility. You must keep the Network Monitor Capture
Utility running when you access the Windows Update Web site for the utility to
display the actual cause of the error messages.
