Symptoms

When you update the Microsoft Windows Defender definitions on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

0x80240022 - the wrong diskette is in the drive. Insert %2 (Volume Serial Number: %3) into drive %1.

Note Windows Defender may be configured to automatically check for new definitions.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, install the root certificates update from the following Microsoft Windows Update Web page:

http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdateTo find the root certificates update, use Windows Update to scan the computer, and then click Software, Optional. The root certificates update appears under the Optional Software Updates heading.This item updates the list root certificates on your computer to the latest list that is accepted by Microsoft as part of the Microsoft Root Certificate Program. Adding additional root certificates to your computer lets a wider range of applications work seamlessly. These applications include applications that provide security-enhanced Web browsing, encrypted e-mail, and security-enhanced code delivery.
