Support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) ends on July 12, 2011. To continue receiving security updates for Windows, make sure you're running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2). For more information, refer to this Microsoft web page: Support is ending for some versions of Windows
(http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/end-support-windows-xp-sp2-windows-vista-without-service-packs)

On a computer that runs Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, you have a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) device that is connected. However, the Sound dialog box in Control Panel may display duplicate items for the same device, or the Sound dialog box may not display any items for the device.
This problem occurs in one of the following scenarios:
You resume the computer from sleep or from hibernation.
You toggle between the laptop screen and an HDMI TV screen.
Immediately after you unplug the HDMI cable, you plug the HDMI cable back in.
