Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that uses an Intel processor from the Westmere family of processors. For example, the computer has an Intel Arrandale processor (Intel Core i7 6xx series, Core i5 5xx series, or Core i3 3xx series) or an Intel Clarkdale desktop processor (Intel Core i3 5xx series, Core i5 6xx series, or Pentium G9650).

  • The computer is running Windows 7.

  • You run a virtual machine by using Windows Virtual PC. For example, you run Windows XP Mode.

  • You put the computer into the sleep state or into the hibernation state, when the virtual machine is running.

  • You try to resume the computer from sleep or from hibernation.

In this scenario, the system may stop responding or restart.

To apply this update, your computer must be running Windows 7. Additionally, Windows Virtual PC must be installed on the computer.

Registry information

To apply this update, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

Restart requirement

You must restart the computer after you apply this update.

Update replacement information

This update does not replace a previously released update.

The dates and the times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The dates and the times for these files on your local computer are displayed in your local time together with your current daylight saving time (DST) bias. Additionally, the dates and the times may change when you perform certain operations on the files.
