Not sure if this is the right fix? We've added this issue to our memory dump diagnostic which can confirm.

Symptoms

On a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7, you receive a Stop error message that resembles the following:

STOP: 0x000000B8 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC

Note

  • The parameters in this Stop error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.

  • Not all "0x000000B8" Stop errors are caused by this problem.

This issue may occur in one of the following conditions:

  • The computer is under a heavy load situation.

  • The computer is connected to a network that has some connectivity issues.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Redirected Driver Buffering SubSystem (Rdbss.sys) driver incorrectly performs an I/O request packet (IRP) cancellation operation at the deferred procedure call level or at the dispatch level. The IRP cancellation operation performs a wait operation that involves the context switching for a thread. However, the context switching for a thread is not permitted at the deferred procedure call level or at the dispatch level. Therefore, you receive the Stop error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
