How to create and access a Clipchamp account

Applies To
Clipchamp for personal accounts Clipchamp for work accounts

Sign in with the same account you used to create the project; that account determines which projects you can see.

Sign in or create an account

Personal accounts

Use Clipchamp with a personal or family Microsoft account.

  1. On Windows 11, open Clipchamp from the Start menu. If it is not installed, get it from the Microsoft Store.
  2. On Windows 10, install Clipchamp from the Microsoft Store, then open it.
  3. On Windows, Mac, Linux, or ChromeOS, open https://app.clipchamp.com/login in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
  4. If you already have a Clipchamp account, sign in with the same email address you used before. A different sign-in option can work if it uses the same email address.
  5. If Clipchamp asks you to connect a Microsoft account, follow the prompts. Your existing projects and account settings remain in place.

Work or school accounts

Use Clipchamp for work or school with the Microsoft account issued by your organization. Your organization also needs a Microsoft 365 business or education license that includes Clipchamp.

Open Clipchamp from Microsoft 365 in Edge or Chrome, or use the Clipchamp desktop app if your administrator made it available. On managed devices, the desktop app may open the work version by default. If allowed, sign out to switch between a personal account and a work or school account.

Where your Clipchamp projects live

Personal accounts

  • Projects are tied to the Clipchamp account and email address used to create them.
  • Some personal projects use OneDrive-backed storage. In that case, project files are saved through OneDrive and can reopen with the same Clipchamp account.
  • Other personal projects can depend on files stored locally on the original computer or browser. If those files are not available on a new device, Clipchamp may ask you to locate and relink them.
  • Exported videos are separate from editing projects. After exporting, save the finished video to a folder you can find again.

For OneDrive-backed project access issues, see Troubleshooting OneDrive-backed Clipchamp editing projects.

Work or school accounts

Work or school projects are backed up to your work OneDrive or SharePoint. The project folder includes:

  • a .clipchamp file with project data,
  • an Assets folder with media files,
  • an Exports folder with finished videos.

To open the project on another computer, sign in to OneDrive or SharePoint with the same work or school account and open the .clipchamp file.

Why a project may not appear

A project can be missing from the Clipchamp homepage if:

  • you are signed in with a different email address, account, or account type,
  • you created it in personal Clipchamp but opened work or school Clipchamp, or the reverse,
  • OneDrive-backed setup or access is incomplete,
  • the project or media is stored locally on another computer or browser,
  • browser cache or local app data was cleared or overwritten,
  • the mobile app was used, because mobile and desktop projects do not currently sync.

If you can't find a project or video

Try these steps in order.

  1. Check your account. Select your user icon in Clipchamp and confirm the email address. Sign out, then sign in with the account used to create the project.
  2. Check the Clipchamp version. Personal projects and work or school projects are separate. Open the version you used when you created the project.
  3. Check OneDrive or SharePoint. In the same account, look for the Clipchamp folder or project folder. For work or school projects, open the .clipchamp file.
  4. Fix OneDrive setup issues. In Clipchamp, select the gear icon, go to OneDrive, then choose Retry setup if it appears. See the OneDrive-backed troubleshooting article linked above.
  5. Open the original device and browser. If the project or media was stored locally, it may only be available where you last edited it.
  6. Relink files if prompted. Choose Relink entire folder or locate files one by one, using the original video, audio, and image files.
  7. Check for cleared local data. If browser cache or local app data was cleared or overwritten, local project data or unsaved changes may not be recoverable. Before closing future projects, check your internet connection and let OneDrive or content backup finish uploading when available.
