Using the Office Key

Some modern keyboards include a new key that can help you be more productive with Office.

Important

The Office Key requires you to be using Windows 10 May 2019 update (Version 1903) or newer. Not sure what version of Windows you've got? See What version of Windows do I have?

Using the Office key

Tap the Office key and the Office app will open, if you have it installed. If you don't have it installed, then Office.com will open in your default browser.

There are also several shortcuts where you press the Office key in combination with another key. Those shortcuts are:

Shortcut What does it do? Press it again
Office Key + W Opens Word Opens a new window of Word
Office Key + P Opens PowerPoint Opens a new window of PowerPoint
Office Key + X Opens Excel Opens a new window of Excel
Office Key + O Opens Outlook Activates your existing Outlook window in the Inbox
Office Key + T Opens Microsoft Teams Activates your existing Microsoft Teams window
Office Key + D Opens OneDrive in File Explorer Activates your existing File Explorer window if the root OneDrive folder is still selected; otherwise opens a new File Explorer window with OneDrive selected.
Office Key + N Opens OneNote Opens a new window of OneNote
Office Key + L Opens LinkedIn, in your default browser Opens LinkedIn in an additional tab in your default browser
Office Key + Y Opens Viva Engage Opens Viva Engage in an additional tab in your default browser
