Use a Freedom Scientific braille display with Narrator

Narrator supports the following Freedom Scientific braille displays on Windows.

Focus 1

Use the following commands with Narrator when using your Freedom Scientific Focus 1 model.

Note

  • There are two Nav controls—one at each side of the top. Each has three actions: Up, Down, and Press. On some models, a Nav control is a wheel which can be both rolled and pressed. On others, it's an up/down rocker along with a separate pressable button.
  • The Selector keys are at either end of the front edge. On older models, they're known as GDF (General Display Function) keys.
  • The Advance keys are just inside the rockers and outside the shift keys.

PAC Mate

Use the following commands with Narrator when using your Freedom Scientific PAC Mate model.

Note

  • The rear row of cursor routing keys is actually a set of navigation keys.
  • The 10 middle keys (5 on each side of the center) are special.
  • The two outer ones are named Left Selector and Right Selector.
  • The eight inner ones are named Hot 1 through Hot 8.
  • The Left Advance key is any key to the left of the special keys.
  • The Right Advance key is any key to the right of the special keys.
