Symptoms
Assume that you use Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) on a large database in Microsoft SQL Server 2016, and you back up the database to multiple files by using the COMPRESSION option. When you try to restore the database from the back-up files, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Msg 9004, Level 16, State 2, Line 45 An error occurred while processing the log for database database_name. If possible, restore from backup. If a backup is not available, it might be necessary to rebuild the log.
Resolution
This fix is included in Cumulative Update 7 for SQL Server 2016.
