"DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)" error if you shut down the computer while you are using the built-in VPN client

Symptoms

You use the built-in VPN client on Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2. When you shut down or suspend the system, the computer crashes, and you receive the following error message:

      

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update:

December 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2
