Connectors allow you to link Copilot to other services so you can easily find, summarize, and act on information from these services.
Copilot can connect with the following consumer services:
-
Microsoft OneDrive
-
Microsoft Outlook.com (email, calendar, and contacts)
-
Google Drive
-
Google Gmail, Calendar, Contacts
Copilot connectors are currently available on Copilot.com and on Copilot Mobile (iOS and Android). You must sign in to Copilot to use this feature.
How Copilot connectors can help
Once a connector is enabled, you ask Copilot to do the following:
-
Find files quickly: “Find my budget spreadsheet” or “Show me the project plan from last month.”
-
Search by file name or type: “Find Word documents about vacation plans” or “Show me all PDFs.”
-
Locate recent files: “Show me the files I worked on last week.”
-
Find emails: “Show me emails from Sarah about the budget” or “Find my flight confirmation email.”
-
Get contact information: “What is John’s email address?”
-
Check in on your calendar: “What’s on my calendar for tomorrow?” or “When is my next dentist appointment?”
How to enable a connector for the first time
-
In Copilot, select your Profile and Connectors. Here, you’ll see the list of connectors supported in Copilot and their status.
-
Select Connect next to the service you want Copilot to connect with. Copilot will display a screen indicating it is ready to connect with that service.
-
Select Continue to … to proceed to the service where can authorize the connection with Copilot. For example, if you are connecting with Gmail, this button will say Continue to Gmail.
-
Take steps to authorize Copilot to connect to your personal Microsoft or Google account. This includes selecting which account you want to use and identifying what data Microsoft Copilot can access.
Note: If you use a personal Microsoft Account (MSA) to sign into Copilot, then it must match the account you use for OneDrive or Outlook. If they do not match, Copilot will not be able to retrieve your content.
-
After this process is complete, you’ll be returned to Microsoft Copilot, and the connector will be enabled.
How to enable or disable connectors
You can turn on as many connectors as you want in Copilot at any given time. The setting to enable or disable connectors depends on the app you are using:
-
On Copilot.com: Select the Open icon (+) and Use connectors.
-
On Copilot Mobile: Select your Profile and Connectors.
Then, toggle the connectors you want to use in this conversation on or off.
Alternatively, you can write a prompt that suggest Copilot use a connector (for example, “What’s on my Outlook calendar tomorrow?”). In response, Copilot will ask for permission to connect to that service.
How Copilot connects to these services
When you use connectors in Copilot, your requests are securely sent to the connected service, whether it's Microsoft (OneDrive, Outlook.com) or Google (Drive, Gmail, Contacts, Calendar).
Each service processes the request using its standard functionality and your existing permissions. Copilot does not store, modify, or expand your access. It only works with content your account already has permission to view.
For Microsoft services like OneDrive and Outlook.com, your Microsoft account must match the one used in Copilot for access to work. For Google services, you must explicitly connect your Google account and grant permission for Copilot to access your data. Once connected, Copilot can retrieve files, emails, contacts, and calendar events based on your queries, and return the results directly in your conversation.
How Copilot connectors handle your data
After you connect your service, Copilot can access information from those services to help answer your questions. You are always in control of which services Copilot is connected to and when.
When you ask a question, Copilot accesses information directly from Microsoft or Google services to provide a response. Copilot does not store a separate copy of your data. However, Copilot responses that include your data will remain in your conversation history unless you delete the conversation.
Microsoft do not use data from connected services to train Copilot. Your connected data is not used to personalize your experience without your permission.
