As we continue to elevate the authoring experience with AI integrations, AI in SharePoint can now help you create rich, interactive charts on SharePoint pages. Authors can describe the chart they want to create in plain language within a chat on a SharePoint page.

Add a chart to a SharePoint page

Option 1: Add a chart from the agent chat pane

  1. Enter Edit mode while on a page.

  2. Open the agent chat pane: On a SharePoint page in edit mode, select the Agents coin icon in the suite navigation on the upper right or the AI sparkle icon from the toolbar on the right. The agent chat pane opens on the right side of the screen.   How to open the chat pane

  3. Write a prompt: In the prompt box, write your own prompt with what content you need. You can optionally attach relevant files to give the AI more context.

Tips:

  • Some example prompts to give you a starting point:

  • “Add a bar chart about…”

  • "Make a pie chart of…"

  • “Create a line chart with…”

Tip: Provide as much detail as possible in your prompt. The more specific you are, the better AI can assist you.

Option 2: Insert a chart from the web part toolbox

  1. Enter Edit mode while on a page.

  2. Open the web part toolbox: Open the toolbox from the canvas or within the content pane.

  3. Find and add a chart: Search for "Chart" under the AI category. Select it to add a chart to your page. This will automatically open the chat pane. Chart web part in toolbox

  4. Write a prompt: In the prompt box, write your own prompt with what content you need. You can optionally attach relevant files to give the AI more context.

Edit an existing chart

Once the chart is added to the page, you can write additional prompts to edit it. These include both content changes (such as adding, editing, or removing content) and stylistic changes (like the look and feel).

If you want to revert to a previous version, you can select the Undo button in the command bar.

Tip: In your prompt, give context about which chart you're referring to so that the AI better knows where to make the changes, e.g. "On the chart about 2025 sales..."

Tip: Be sure to click the thumbs up/down (👍/👎) in the chat pane and add your feedback to help us improve AI responses and elevate the experience. You can also report issues or feature requests via SharePoint support channels.
