There are a number of possible explanations for why verification codes don't always arrive. Read through the list of the most common causes, and see if any of them apply to you, or use our troubleshooter to help guide you.

Generally, it only takes a few moments to receive the code. Did this resolve the issue? Get help if you did not receive a security code when making changes to your account.

Silent Notifications: If notifications are silent or disabled, you might not receive the necessary prompts to complete authentication. Make sure notifications are enabled for the app. Check your text messages for authentication codes which may have arrived silently.

Important: Due to a known issue, for a short time adding a phone number will not register the number for SMS sign-in. You'll have to sign in with the added number and then follow the prompts to register the number for SMS sign-in.

Get help if you did not receive a security code when making changes to your account.

Removing verification methods Important: You don't need to remove old security information unless there is an account security risk (e.g. someone else has access to your old mailbox). If you do need to replace your security information, make sure you add new information first.

To resolve this issue, do one or more of the following: Make sure that the phone is working correctly. If you're using a mobile phone, make sure that your mobile service is available. Make sure that you have the correct phone number and country/region code listed in the security verification settings.
