In certain countries, if you purchased a subscription from the Microsoft Store you may be able to cancel and receive a prorated refund.
Tip: If your payment is past-due, you can cancel the subscription immediately. Go to Services, and for the subscription you want to cancel select Manage > Cancel subscription, and then follow the remaining prompts. Once you cancel, you won't be charged for the past-due amount.
Countries with a prorated refund
Different countries have different prorated polices, for example the duration of the subscription and whether or not it's an initial purchase can determine if you're eligible for a prorated refund. Check your eligibility for receiving a prorated refund below.
To cancel your subscription and receive a prorated refund (if eligible), go to Services & subscriptions for your Microsoft account, find the subscription you want to cancel, select Manage > Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.
All subscription lengths
All subscription lengths (annual, monthly, or other durations) are eligible for a prorated refund if the purchase was made from one of the following countries:

Subscriptions longer than 1 month and renewed
A subscription longer than one month (such as an annual subscription) which has also been renewed, and purchased from one of the following countries, is eligible for a prorated refund for the renewal period only.
Note: Note monthly subscriptions and initial (pre-renewal) purchases aren't eligible for a prorated refund.
