Filter apps and games with Microsoft Edge
Enjoy peace of mind while younger family members explore online by establishing content filters. Content filters are an effective way to prevent access to mature web content, apps, and games. Set individual age limits within a family group to ensure family members only view age-appropriate material. App and game filters only work on Windows and Xbox devices operating Microsoft Edge - try it now!
To begin using app and game filters, follow the steps below.
-
Visit family.microsoft.com and sign into your Microsoft account.
-
Find your family member and click Content Filters.
-
Go to Apps and Games. Under Allow apps and games rated for, designate the age limit for content they will have permission to access.
-
Approve blocked app or game requests by adding them to the Always allowed list under Content Filters.
Note: To view content your family member is accessing without setting up content filters, go to the Activity page and switch on the Activity reporting toggle.
-
Open the Microsoft Family Safety app.
-
Find your family member and tap the Content filters card.
-
Tap Apps and games.
-
Tap the Apps and games bar and designate the age limit for content they will have permission to access.
-
Tap the back arrow button in the top left corner of the screen to automatically update your family member’s content age limit settings.
Note: If you approve a request for your family member to download an app or game above their age limit, it will appear under ALLOWED APPS. If you block an app or game, it will appear under BLOCKED APPS.
