I've been charged twice
Sometimes it may seem that Microsoft has charged you twice or taken double payments. Double payments may appear on your credit card or bank statement for these reasons.
-
If we cannot take payment due to insufficient funds, we will keep trying until successful. This may mean that the "late" payment and then the next "on time" payment could appear very close to each other as we try to catch up. These payments will be for the same amount and be listed for the same product or service.
You can verify whether you've been charged twice by looking back over the last few months of your order history and banking statements. For example, if you have a monthly subscription, and were only charged 3 times within the last 90 days, then you have not been charged twice by Microsoft, even though some payments appear closer together.
-
If you intentionally purchase multiple subscription time periods (e.g. to get 2 years' worth of Xbox Live Gold), they will appear as multiple transactions on your bank or credit card statement.
-
If you see multiple payments on your banking statement, but only see one charge on your Microsoft account order history, you may have multiple accounts (for example another family member) using the same credit card.
How to check your order history for duplicate payments

If you don't find duplicate charges in your Microsoft account order history, you may have multiple accounts (for example another family member) using the same credit card.
