My child is not able to access 3rd party apps

If a child signs in and sees the error message "Something went wrong. Your parent has blocked access to games and apps that aren't published by Microsoft" it means that when the parent granted consent, they didn’t select the option to grant permission to 3rd party apps.

How to fix blocked access to games and apps

  1. Sign in as a parent to account.live.com/mk to see a list of child accounts you are responsible for.

  2. From the list of links next to the child, select Manage this child's access to third party apps.

Notes: Even if you are a family organiser, you can only manage consent if you originally granted consent. if you cannot see the child account, it is because:

    • Consent has not yet been given.

    • Consent was either granted by another adult.

    • Consent was given using another Microsoft account.

  3. Select Enable access (or Disable access if you want to block).

Note: If you do not see Enable access, it means your child already has access to apps that are not published by Microsoft.
