Note
The information in this article applies to the Clipchamp video editor for personal accounts. Direct YouTube upload isn't available in the Clipchamp video editor for work and school.
If an upload from Clipchamp to YouTube fails, or you can't find the uploaded video, use the checks below. You can also upload a saved copy through YouTube Studio without using the direct integration.
For the full upload procedure, see How to upload a video directly to YouTube from Clipchamp.
Before you retry
When the export finishes, select Save to your computer and wait for the file to save. This gives you a copy to upload manually if needed. Save it before reloading Clipchamp or closing the app, because you might need to export again afterward.
If Clipchamp can't finish creating the video, first see Exporting from Clipchamp - troubleshooting.
What to do if the video is uploaded but is not showing on your YouTube channel
Reaching 100% on Clipchamp's export progress bar doesn't confirm a YouTube upload. When the YouTube upload succeeds, the Save to YouTube section displays the video's link and a Copy link button. YouTube might still need time to process the video.
- Open YouTube Studio and check that you're using the Google account and channel selected when you connected YouTube to Clipchamp.
- Select Content and look for your video. Check for processing messages or errors before uploading another copy.
- Review the video's Visibility. A Private or Unlisted video can upload successfully without appearing publicly on your channel. Choose Public only if you want to share it publicly. For details, see Change video privacy settings.
- Before sharing, confirm the video's audience settings in YouTube Studio, even if you selected them in Clipchamp.
If YouTube is still processing the video, allow it time to finish. Uploading and processing are separate stages, and higher-quality videos can take longer to process.
What to do if you see an error message or nothing happens
After an MP4 export finishes, select Save to YouTube on the export page. Depending on your export settings, it might be under More sharing options. Direct YouTube upload isn't available for GIF or audio-only exports.
If Save to YouTube isn't shown, upload your saved MP4 through YouTube Studio instead.
Option 1. Check browser interruptions
- Check that your internet connection is working, and keep Clipchamp open while the upload runs.
- Look for a Google sign-in or permission window waiting for your response. In a browser, also check for a blocked pop-up notice.
- Use the latest desktop version of Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. If a specific extension is blocking the connection, check its controls for Clipchamp rather than disabling all extensions or browser security. For more guidance, see Make sure Clipchamp works well for you.
Option 2. Check the connected account and channel
The Google account connected for YouTube uploads is separate from your Clipchamp sign-in. Signing in to a different Google account in another tab doesn't change the existing Clipchamp connection.
In Save to YouTube, check the connected Google account. It needs a YouTube channel, not just a Google account.
If the wrong account is connected, or the connection has failed, select Disconnect if it's available. Then follow Connect your YouTube account to choose the intended account and channel and review Google's permissions.
If Google says your organization blocks the connection, contact your administrator rather than trying to bypass the restriction.
Option 3. Check video details and YouTube limits
If Retry is shown, select it to return to the video details. Complete the fields, correct any invalid title, description, or keywords, and answer Is this video made for kids?. Then select Upload again. Retry alone doesn't start another upload.
For videos longer than 15 minutes, check that your YouTube account is verified for longer uploads. Follow YouTube's verification and upload-limit guidance.
Two upload-limit messages need different responses:
| Message in Clipchamp | What to try |
|---|---|
| "We've temporarily reached our YouTube upload limit." | The direct integration has reached its upload quota. Try again later, or upload the saved MP4 through YouTube Studio. |
| "You've exceeded the number of videos you may upload." | Your channel has reached a YouTube upload limit. For a daily-limit error, YouTube recommends trying again in 24 hours. The channel's daily limit also applies to uploads through YouTube Studio. |
For channel restrictions, processing errors, or other messages from YouTube, see YouTube's common uploading error guidance.
Upload the saved video through YouTube Studio
If the direct upload still fails, open YouTube Studio with the intended account and channel. Select Create > Upload videos, choose the MP4 you saved, and follow the prompts. Review the audience and visibility settings before publishing. For the full steps, see Upload YouTube videos.
This alternative doesn't bypass YouTube's account restrictions or upload limits. If the saved file also fails to upload, use the guidance for the error YouTube displays.
Still need help?
Contact Clipchamp Support and include the exact error message, whether you're using the Windows app or a browser, and whether uploading the saved file through YouTube Studio works. Don't include passwords or sign-in verification codes.
