Import data from a CSV, HTML, or text file

Here's how:

  1. Go to Data > Get & Transform Data > Get Data > From File.
  2. Select the type of file that you want to import (such as From Excel Workbook or From Text/CSV).
  3. Select the file you want to import, and then select Import.
  4. In the Import Data dialog, select the data you wish to import, how you want to view the data in your workbook, and where you want to put it. To select where the data will be loaded, select the dropdown arrow beside Load, and then select Load To.
  5. Do one of the following:
To Do this
Import the data to the current worksheet Select Existing worksheet, and then select OK.
Import the data to a new worksheet Select New worksheet, and then select OK.
Excel adds a new sheet to your workbook and automatically pastes the external data range at the upper-left corner of the new worksheet.
