Add a trusted device to your Microsoft account

When you try to view or edit sensitive info associated with your Microsoft account—like your credit card details—we might ask you for a security code first, to make sure that only you can get in to your account.

If you don’t want to type in verification codes on your home or work computer every time you sign in, you can designate your computer as a trusted device. On trusted devices, you don't need to enter a security code each time you try to access sensitive info. This can be useful if you use a device often, if you have two-step verification, or if you're using the Microsoft Authenticator app to sign in. Here's how to do it:

  1. On the device you want to trust, go to the Security settings page and sign in to your Microsoft account.
  2. You'll be prompted to enter a security code. Choose whether to receive the code through email, text, or an authenticator app. Once you have the code, enter it in the text box.
  3. Select the check box for I sign in frequently on this device. Don't ask me for a code. and then select Submit.

You can now sign in and edit your info on this device whenever you want, without entering another security code.
