Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario.

  • You create a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services (SSIS 2008), SQL Server 2008 R2 Integration Services (SSIS 2008 R2) or SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS 2005) package. This package uses some Raw File sources to read raw data from some files in a data flow task.

  • You use expressions and variables in this package to store the paths to the raw files.

  • These variables are evaluated by using a hierarchy of expressions. These expressions use other variables and some base variables. The default values of the base variables have been set.

  • You run the package in parallel.

In this scenario, the variables may be incorrectly set to use the default values of the base variables. Additionally, you receive an error messages that resemble the following:

10607 SSISErrorCode : -1071636364 SSIS ErrorMessage : File "D:\SSIS\RawFiles7254382\sbr_ot2_iss.dat" cannot be opened for reading. Error may occur when there are no privileges or the file is not found. Exact cause is reported in previous error message.

The system cannot find the file specified.

10607 SSISErrorCode : -1073450996 SSIS ErrorMessage : One or more component failed validation.

10607 SSISErrorCode : -1073594105 SSIS ErrorMessage : There were errors during task validation.

Cause

This issue occurs because a race condition error when the variable expressions of the SSIS package are evaluated.
