Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You deploy a Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) in an environment.

  • A Windows 8, Windows RT, or Windows Server 2012-based computer in the environment tries to scan for updates on the WSUS server.

  • The cookies for Windows Update expire on the computer.

In this scenario, Windows cannot scan for updates. Additionally, error code 0x80244007 is generated.

Cause

This issue occurs because Windows cannot renew the cookies for Windows Update.
