This article describes cumulative update package 4 (CU4) (build number 12.0.4436.0) for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1 (SP1). This update contains hotfixes for issues that were fixed after the release of SQL Server 2014 SP1.

About SQL Native Client (SNAC) fixes

Microsoft now releases hotfix updates to the SQL Server 2012 Native Client (SNAC) as separate downloads through the following Microsoft Download Center website:

SQL Server 2012 Native Client (SNAC) QFE fixes are no longer included in cumulative update packages. This change eliminates the need to download the entire CU package and manually extract SNAC updates. Also, this new process enables easy distribution of the updates in all 11 available languages.

Additionally, Microsoft will not be releasing a SQL Server 2014 or later version of the SQL Server Native Client. SQL Server 2014 and later versions can continue to use the SQL Server 2012 Native Client (version 11 files, such as Sqlncli11.dll).

Together with the hotfixes in SQL Server 2014 SP1 CU4, the following updates to the SQL Server 2012 Native Client are now available.
