Cumulative update 6 for SQL Server 2012 SP3

Applies to: SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 3SQL Server 2012 Analysis ServicesSQL Server 2012 Business Intelligence

Cumulative Update 6 (CU6) for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 3 (SP3) was also released as a SQL Server Security Bulletin on 11/8/2016, KB3194717. See MS16-136 for more information. Because of this, you may already have CU6 installed as part of that security bulletin release and installation of this CU is unnecessary. If you do try to install CU6 after MS16-136, you may receive the following message:
There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer

This indicates that CU6 is already installed and no further action is required.

Note The package name for CU6, "SQLServer2012-KB3194724-<x86/x64>.exe", contains the MS16-136 KB number (3194724), not the CU6 KB number, (3194992). This can be ignored as a single package services both release channels.

This article describes cumulative update package 6 (build number: 11.0.6567.0) for SQL Server 2012 SP3. This update contains fixes that were released after the release of SQL Server 2012 SP3.
