How do I keep my Windows 10 Mobile device up to date?

Applies to: Windows 10 Mobile

If your device is running Windows 10 Mobile, it'll automatically install updates over Wi-Fi, but you can also manually check to see if your device is up to date.

  1. On Start , swipe over to the All apps list, then select Settings  > Update & security > Windows Update.
  2. Select Check for updates to see if any updates are available.
You don’t have to worry about losing monthly data to large downloads or receiving charges over a metered connection—Windows 10 Mobile waits to update until a Wi-Fi signal is available. If you just can’t wait to use the newest features, you can choose to download manually using your data connection (where charges might apply) by selecting the Download button.
Updates may require you to restart your device. You can schedule a restart outside of the time you normally use your device using active hours. To set up active hours, select Settings  > Update & security > Windows Update. Scroll down to Update settings and select Change active hours and adjust the times to fit your needs. You can also set a specific restart time that will override active hours by selecting Restart options.
