Symptoms

If you have a workload that uses many memory-optimized table types in Microsoft SQL Server 2017 on Linux, you may experience excessive PREMPTIVE_OS_CREATEDIRECTORY waits during compilation or recompilation of memory-optimized table types.

This issue can also occur when you deploy scripts that create many memory-optimized tables or procedures or during recovery of a database that has many memory optimized tables.

Resolution

This fix is included in Cumulative Update 2 for SQL Server 2017.

Important After you install this update, you must enable trace flag 9944 to enable this fix. To enable trace flag 9944, see Trace Flags (Transact-SQL).
