Symptoms
Assume that you have a full-text index on a table that contains very large documents in Microsoft SQL Server 2014, 2016 or 2017. When you execute a query on the table, you receive out-of-memory error messages that resembles the following:
Error: 30086, Severity: 17, State: 8.
The system ran out of memory while building a full-text index. The batch for the full-text indexing operation will automatically be retried using a smaller batch size.Resolution
This problem is fixed in the following updates for SQL Server:
Cumulative Update 13 for SQL Server 2017
Cumulatvie Update 4 for SQL Server 2016 SP2
Cumulative Update 12 for SQL Server 2016 SP1
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and security fixes that were in the previous build. We recommend that you install the latest build for your version of SQL Server:
