Summary

This security update resolves an information disclosure vulnerability that exists if Microsoft Excel incorrectly discloses the contents of its memory. To learn more about the vulnerability, see Microsoft Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures CVE-2019-1464.

Note To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Service Pack 2 for Office 2010 installed on the computer.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2010. It doesn't apply to the Office 2010 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student (see What version of Office am I using?).

Improvements and fixes

This security update contains a fix for the following nonsecurity issue:

  • After you install update 4484164, you receive the following error message when you restrict permissions within a workbook or open a workbook that has Information Rights Management (IRM) applied:

    Manifest does not match the executable; recreate the manifest by rebuilding the application.
