This article describes update 4484439 for Microsoft Office 2016 that was released on July 7, 2020.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to Office subscription or Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home (see What version of Office am I using?).

Improvements and fixes

This update fixes the following issues:

  • When you open an office file from SharePoint or OneDrive for Business (OD4B) by using Office clients, the modified date and time are displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) instead of local time.

  • A hang or delay issue occurs when you open Word document files with custom XML values that contain many spaces.
