Release Date:

3/30/2020

Version:

OS Build 17134.1401

Windows 10, version 1803 (the April 2018 Update) Home and Pro editions have reached end of service. For Windows 10 devices that are at, or within several months of reaching end of service, Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update (with users having the ability to choose a convenient time). This keeps those devices supported and receiving the monthly updates that are critical to device security and ecosystem health.

Highlights

  • Updates an issue that might display the wrong internet connection status for certain VPN users or might prevent some applications from connecting to the internet.

Improvements and fixes

This non-security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

  • Addresses an issue that might display a limited or no internet connection status in the notification area on devices that use a manual or auto-configured proxy, especially with a virtual private network (VPN). Additionally, this issue might prevent some devices from connecting to the internet using applications that use WinHTTP or WinINet.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

How to get this update

Before installing this update

Microsoft strongly recommends you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system before installing the latest cumulative update (LCU). SSUs improve the reliability of the update process to mitigate potential issues while installing the LCU. For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4540724) will be offered to you automatically. To get the standalone package for the latest SSU, search for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog.
