Symptoms
Istio proxy fails in SQL Server 2019 as automountServiceAccountToken property is set to FALSE by default in Cumulative Update 5 (CU5) for SQL Server 2019.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Resolution
This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

Workaround
To work around this issue, you can manually edit the replicaset/statefulset definition with automountServiceAccountToken as FALSE, and then restart the corresponding pods to apply the settings.
