Summary 

This security update resolves a Microsoft SharePoint Server remote code execution vulnerability and Microsoft SharePoint Server spoofing vulnerability. To learn more about the vulnerabilities, see the following security advisories:

  • To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition installed on the computer.

Improvements and fixes

This security update contains an improvement and fixes for the following nonsecurity issues in SharePoint Server Subscription Edition:

  • Adds a User-Agent header in the request to the Search Content Service (SCS) for hybrid search.

  • Fixes an issue in which users could see the search box for cross-site collection moves. This situation is unsupported because of an incorrect translation.

  • Fixes an issue in which the ExportDocumentSet method in the Client-Side Object Model (CSOM) fails and returns the following error message:

    The type initializer for 'MS.Utility.EventTrace' threw an exception.

  • Fixes an issue in which the Import-SPWeb command fails when you import a site that was originally created in Microsoft SharePoint 2007.

  • Fixes an issue in which the search scope navigation (breadcrumb navigation) on the search results page stops working.

  • Fixes an issue in which the Quick Chart web part doesn't update when the data of a source list is changed.

  • Fixes an issue in which the NodeRunner.exe process stops responding during a search operation.
