Symptoms
When you run Export-AutoDiscoverConfig cmdlet, the enterprise administrator password is sent through the network in clear text format. This problem occurs in Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 and 2016.
Additionally, if the target domain controller requires signing, the cmdlet generates the following error message:
A more secure authentication method is required for this server.
Cause
This issue occurs because authentication involves a simple bind process to make the LDAP connection.
Resolution
To fix this issue, install one of the following updates:
Cumulative Update 11 for Exchange Server 2019 or a later cumulative update for Exchange Server 2019
Cumulative Update 22 for Exchange Server 2016 or a later cumulative update for Exchange Server 2016
