Symptoms
You open a remote shared folder in Windows Explorer that uses the Details view and for which the Preview Pane layout is enabled on a computer that is running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2. When you try to open a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Workbook from the remote shared folder, you may receive the following message:

Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Vista Service Pack 1.
More Information
If you use the 2007 Office system, you must add following registry keys after you install this hotfix.
Note: The components affecting the issue has been updated on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, however, to fix the problem the above registry entries have to be made on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 machines as well.
