After you put a Windows Explorer window into full-screen mode on a secondary monitor, the navigation bar does not appear on a computer that is running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms


Consider the following scenario:
  • You connect more than one monitor on a computer that is running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • On a secondary monitor, you put a Windows Explorer window into full-screen mode by pressing the F11 key.
In this scenario, when you move the pointer to the top of the screen, the Windows Explorer navigation bar does not appear.

Notes
  • The navigation bar appears if the Windows Explorer window is maximized instead of in full-screen mode.
  • The navigation bar appears if you switch out of full-screen mode by pressing the F11 key.

Resolution


Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
