Important: Learn how to protect yourself from tech support scams. Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers use scare tactics to trick you into unnecessary technical support services. Only allow a Helper to connect to your device if you initiated the interaction by contacting Microsoft Support directly. If you or someone you know has been affected by a tech support scam, use the technical support scam form to report it.

Quick Assist Support allows you to share your computer screen with a Microsoft support professional remotely. When they see the screen, they can work on your computer over a secured connection to resolve an issue you reported to Support.

Before beginning a Quick Assist support session:

By engaging in a Quick Assist support session, you agree that during this session, the support professional may capture screen shots for quality and/or training purposes. If you don't choose to accept screen shots being captured, please request other quality support options such as phone or chat support.

Your operating system determines whether you'll use Quick Assist for Windows, Quick Assist for macOS, or the Quick Assist web app.

Quick Assist for Windows

The Quick Assist for Windows app is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11. It allows you to give or get PC help over a remote connection. Remember—only use Quick Assist with people you trust, since they can access your PC.

Important: You might need to update Quick Assist to continue using it. For more info, see Install Quick Assist.

To open the Quick Assist Windows app, select Start , then in the search box, type quick assist and select it in the list of results. Or you can do one of the following:

  • Press Ctrl + Windows logo key + Q at the same time.

  • Use the Start menu:

    • In Windows 11: Select Start  > All apps > Quick Assist.

    • In Windows 10: Select Start  > Windows Accessories > Quick Assist.

After Quick Assist opens, enter the code provided to you by Microsoft.

Quick Assist for macOS

If your device is on macOS Monterey, Ventura, or Sonoma, you can use the Quick Assist for macOS native application to receive support. When instructed, download, and install the application on your macOS device.

  1. Download Quick Assist for macOS and install it.

  2. Open the Quick Assist application from Finder.

  3. After opening, the application will require permission to interact with your device. You will be prompted to provide the appropriate permissions by changing the relevant settings.

    1. Privacy & Settings > Screen Recording to enable your Helper to view your screen.

    2. Privacy &Security > Accessibility to enable your Helper to control your mouse and keyboard.

  4. The Microsoft support agent will provide you with a security code, enter it when prompted.

  5. During the connection process, you will be prompted to share your screen, and select which screen you want to share. If you don’t see this prompt, in the menu bar (top right corner) click on the Microphone/Camera/Screen Sharing icon and select ‘Screen’.

  6. Move the cursor to the screen you would like to share and select ‘Share Screen’.

Note: If during the connection process you are asked to share your devices microphone, it is ok to reject this request. Quick Assist does not require the microphone to share the screen but macOS may include this permission as part of the screen sharing permissions.

Important: Quick Assist for macOS is only available for use with verified Microsoft support agents.

Quick Assist web app

If your device is unable to use Quick Assist for Windows or macOS, you can use the Quick Assist web app to get help. The app allows you to share your devices screen with the Microsoft support agent’s computer using a remote connection. During this session your Helper will only be able to view your screen, not control it.

Here’s what to do if you’re working with a Microsoft support agent and they tell you to open the Quick Assist web app:

  1. Open the Quick Assist web app.

  2. The Microsoft support agent will give you a security code—enter it when prompted.

  3. When prompted, select 'Share Screen', and then 'Allow to Share Screen'

  4. Move your mouse cursor to the screen you would like to share and select 'Share This Screen'

Important: The Quick Assist web app is only available for use with verified Microsoft support agents.
