This update installs the Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime. This is required to run Microsoft Office-based solutions that are built by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2012, and Visual Studio 2013.
This update is a cumulative rollup of previous fixes, and it resolves the following issues:
WPF user interface (UI) thread is shut down prematurely.
In Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime version 10.0.50701, a small regression was unintentionally introduced. The issue affects add-ins that call Globals.Factory.GetVSTOObject on a Word document or Excel workbook. If Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is used for the add-in's UI and if the document or workbook that corresponds to the GetVSTOObject function call is closed, the WPF UI thread may shut down prematurely.
This update ensures that the WPF controls continue to be displayed correctly.
Slow Office shutdown for Visual Studio Tools for Office add-ins that use the WPF controls on touch-enabled devices.
For Visual Studio Tools for Office add-ins that use the WPF controls, when you close Office applications on touch-enabled devices, you may experience significant lag (15 to 20 seconds). This update removes the lag.
"Unknown Publisher" for add-ins signed by using SHA256 code-signing certificates.
For developers who use SHA 256 code-signing certificates, the installation Trust Prompt may incorrectly display "Unknown Publisher" even when the publisher is fully trusted. The latest update guarantees that the publisher’s name and verification status are correctly displayed.
Note The update will automatically configure VSTO to use the same language as your copy of Windows. If you have to have an additional language pack (for example, if your copy of Windows uses more than one language setting, or if you switch from one language setting to another after you install the VSTO runtime), you can find the language packs here.
