FIX: "Access Denied" error occurs when you run an XML validation task in SSIS 2012 or SSIS 2014
Assume that you run an XML validation task in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Integration Service (SSIS 2012) or SQL Server 2014 Integration Service (SSIS 2014). When the input source file is in read-only mode, SSIS throws an "Access Denied" error.
This issue occurs because the default access mode to source file is Read/Write in SSIS 2012. Therefore, when SSIS 2012 opens a read-only source file in the default file access mode, there will be an IOException that results in the "Access Denied" error.
Cumulative Update informationThe issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.
- Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2014 SP1
- Cumulative Update 7 for SQL Server 2014
- Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2012 SP2
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
