This article describes an issue in which the shortcut menu may not work as expected in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. An update is available to resolve this issue. Before you install this update, check out the Prerequisites section.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You have a Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2 system that has a touch screen and high DPI scaling.
-
You attach an external monitor that has low DPI scaling, and then you select the duplicate mode.
-
You set the display configuration to one of the following options:
-
PC screen only
-
Duplicate
-
Extend
-
Second screen only
-
-
After the displays are rescaled, you access the desktop shortcut menu.
-
You click the desktop outside the shortcut menu, and then you try to dismiss the shortcut menu.
In this scenario, the shortcut menu is not dismissed. Instead, an item of the shortcut menu is selected.
