This article describes an issue that occurs on a Human Interface Devices (HID) class driver on a Windows 8.1-based device. A hotfix is available to fix this issue. The hotfix has a prerequisite.
Symptoms
When this issue occurs, the Sensor HID class driver rejects the device, and the user may see an HID sensor with a yellow bang in Device Manager. Additionally, certain Windows features that are dependent on sensor data, such as screen rotation and screen brightness, may stop functioning correctly.
Resolution
To fix this issue, we have released a hotfix. Even though this issue is observed only in Windows 8.1, the hotfix also applies to Windows RT 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
