FIX: Error 3203 occurs and a SQL Server 2014 backup job can't restart after a network failure

Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

  • You're using Microsoft SQL Server 2014.
  • You run a SQL Server Backup job for database files that are stored directly in Azure Storage.
  • A network failure occurs.
In this scenario, the backup fails and generates error 3203.
Resolution

Cumulative update information

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server 2014:
