Summary

This article describes Hotfix Package 2 for Microsoft Application Virtualization (APP-V) 5.1 and Hotfix Package 3 for Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3). This package contains the latest hotfixes for this program.

Note We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new hotfix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous update package. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains the most necessary hotfixes.

For Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.1 RTM, this hotfix package fixes the following issues:

  • Issue 1
    The lock on the VFS folder was not getting released when the user logs off from the client service

  • Issue 2
    Microsoft Office Click-to-Run apps can't be opened from SharePoint in Internet Explorer. Embedded Office Click-to-Run apps may crash

  • Issue 3
    Press and hold (or right-click) app on taskbar, the app icon becomes blank.

  • Issue 4
    Provide mitigation for apps which don't handle long paths correctly.

  • Issue 5
    Enable users to create multiple instances of Office 2016 Click-to-Run apps.

  • Issue 6
    Re-enable APP-V 5.1 Management server address "http://localhost:<port>/packages" and "http://localhost:<port>/packagesummary"

  • Issue 7
    The Confirmparameter is ignored when the Groupsparameter is null for Grant-AppvServerPackage command. Use the newly added Forceparameter to avoid the "Confirm Action" dialog.

For Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0 SP3, this hotfix package fixes the following issue:

  • Issue 1
    Microsoft Office Click-to-Run apps can't be opened from SharePoint in Internet Explorer. Embedded Office Click-to-Run apps may crash.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem(s) described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Note The downloadable file will have the form <Hotfix ID>_intl_i386_zip.exe and contains installers for both x86-based and x64-based architectures. See the names for the downloaded files under the "File Information" section.

Prerequisites

To apply the hotfix for APP-V 5.1 RTM, you must have APP-V 5.1 installed.

To apply the hotfix for APP-V 5.0 SP3, you must have APP-V 5.0 SP3 installed.

Installation information

Note This Hotfix includes patch installers for APP-V 5.1 RTM Client, Server, and Remote Desktop Services. It also includes the patch installer for APP-V 5.0 SP3 Client and Remote Desktop Services.

Restart information

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Replacement information

This hotfix is the second hotfix for APP-V 5.1 RTM and the third hotfix for APP-V 5.0 SP3.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
