Upload a document in Microsoft Copilot Chat to quickly summarize and analyze it.
Important
Copilot Chat is included with your Microsoft 365 work or school subscription. Responses are grounded in web data and powered by the latest large language models. Summarize a document
- Start in Microsoft Copilot Chat.
- In the chat box, type "Summarize the document".
- Select Add content and agents.
- Choose Upload images and files or Attach cloud files if it's already saved in OneDrive or SharePoint.
- Go to the file you want.
- Select Send.
Copilot will review the file and summarize or answer questions you asked in your original prompt about it.
Use Copilot to refine its response
Think of Copilot Chat as a conversation, so you can keep refining or improving Copilot's responses by asking more questions or asking for changes. Then you can take that response and use it however you want.
A few ideas:
- Ask to shorten or lengthen its response
- Ask to change its tone
- Use the response to draft an email to coworkers
- Copy the response and paste it in a document or email
