We recently released updates for affected supported versions of Windows 10 that fixed an issue where the setting to Block only third party cookies in Microsoft Edge was not working correctly.

Third-party cookies are set by another website that has provided content to the site you are directly visiting in your browser. For example, when you visit a news site and click on a social network button, that social network might set one of their cookies on your browser that they can read later. Some companies, like advertisers, use such third-party cookies to track your visits to various sites on which they advertise.

Now that we’ve fixed the issue, the Block only third party cookies setting won’t allow companies other than the sites you visit to set, see, or use cookies on your browser, including those that might have been previously set. After updating your PC, you might see some changes in your browsing experience because third-party cookies are blocked.

What do I need to do?

In some cases, sites you visit might still be able to use third-party cookies that they originally set on your browser before we updated the setting. To prevent this, clear your cookies in Microsoft Edge.

Note: Clearing your cookies may require you to sign in again to sites you use frequently like email, shopping sites, etc.
