Microsoft Edge

Creating an online account usually involves entering your information into a form containing multiple fields, such as name, email address, date of birth, password, and more. Filling out account details can be time consuming and tedious. Microsoft Edge  makes this process easier.

How this feature works

Microsoft Edge detects when you are on a web page asking you to create an account and automatically fills in required details, including a new strong, generated password.

Notes:

Microsoft Edge uses your past preferences and usage to make recommendations for which basic information would be best suited for creating an online account. Over time, Microsoft Edge will adapt according to your usage and update auto-filled information if you happen to change what you enter on different websites.

Microsoft Edge also provides you with the ability to clear all fields of information or replace the information that has been auto filled.

Turn this feature on or off

This feature is turned on by default, however, it will only work if Save and fill basic info is turned on and if at least 50 percent of required form details have been saved.

To turn this feature on:

  1. Go to Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Personal info.

  2. Under Settings, scroll down to make sure that the Save and fill basic info toggle is turned on.

  3. Then turn on the Automatically fill my info on sign up forms toggle.  To turn this feature off, turn off the Automatically fill my info on sign up forms toggle.

Notes:

  • This feature is not available on all websites. We're increasing the number of websites where this will be supported.

  • If there is not enough information available to autofill a form, the feature will automatically be paused for that web page. You can avoid this by adding more information to your profile by going to Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Personal info and select Add address. Fill out any details you wish to have saved and select Save.
