Use RTMP-In in Microsoft Teams

Enable RTMP-In for your Teams event to produce your event directly from an external hardware- or software-based encoder.  

Note

RTMP-In in Microsoft Teams only supports 708 captions and, while Teams captions will function for organizers, co-organizers, and presenters in the event group, they will not be visible for attendees.

To schedule an event with RTMP-In:  

  1. Select Calendar teams-calendar-tab-icon in Teams.

  2. Select New add-event-glyph  or select an event type in the dropdown menu. 

  3. Enter your event details.

  4. Select Options Settings button .

  5. In Production tools teams-production-tools-icon , turn the RTMP - In toggle on.

    If you don't see this category in your meeting options, contact your IT admin.

  6. Select Apply to get a link and finish setup.

To see the RTMP-In link and key: 

  1. Select Calendar teams-calendar-tab-icon in Teams.
  2. Select an event.
  3. Select View event  teams-expand-icon > Options skype-teams-mobile-icon-settings
  4. In Production tools teams-production-tools-icon , you’ll see the Server Ingest URL and Stream key or name.

RTMP captions

To use RTMP captions for your meeting or event:

  1. Select Calendar teams-calendar-tab-icon  in Teams.
  2. Select an event.
  3. Select View event  teams-expand-icon > Options skype-teams-mobile-icon-settings
  4. In Accessibility teams-accessibility , under Translate attendee captions, verify no languages are selected.

If a language selection is made here, RTMP captions will be disabled and live translated captions will be available in the selected languages.

Send video feed from Teams encoder

After you join the meeting, start streaming from your encoder using the ingest URL to display the stream to attendees. 

If the meeting has Manage what attendees see enabled in your meeting options, people can select their RTMP-In feed to Bring on stage
