Outlook may save multiple drafts of a task if you take a long time editing it. This will result in conflicting items.

If this occurs, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • An info-bar may appear on top of the task item you are editing with one of the following messages:

    • This is the most recent version, but you made changes to another copy. Click here to see the other versions

    • “You made changes to another copy of this item. Click here to view the other copy or to replace it with the version”

  • You may see multiple copies of the same item in Task folder

You may see this message: Conflicting edits have been made to the same item. To Resolve this conflict, select the item in the list below you wish to keep and then choose “Keep This Item,” or Choose “Keep All” to preserve all the versions.

Conflicting edits have been made to the same items.

The Outlook and Microsoft To Do Teams continue to work on a long-term solution for this issue. We will update this article when more information becomes available.

To resolve this issue, use one of the following workarounds:

  • Open the conflict message from Task folder, select the updated version and choose Keep this item.

  • If an edit is made to the task item, save and close the task immediately without keeping it open for more than 5 minutes.
