Download email templates as .oft files

You can download your saved templates as .oft files to store them on your device.

1. Open the Settings page.

2. Select Mail > Templates.

3. Find the template you want to download and select Save as OFT.

4. In File Explorer, choose a location to save the file. The template saves as an .oft file.

Add local .oft files as email templates

You can add .oft files from your device to use them as templates when composing new emails.

This is especially useful for adding .oft files shared with you or templates created in classic Outlook that you want to use in new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web.

1. Open the Settings page.

2. Select Mail > Templates.

3. Select Add > Add OFT.

4. In the Add mail templates dialog, select Choose.

5. In File Explorer, choose the .oft files you want to add. You can find your classic Outlook templates in the following location: c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\microsoft\templates .

6. Select Add. You can add multiple .oft files at once.

Share email drafts as .oft files

You can share email drafts as templates by forwarding them as .oft files.

1. Open or create the new email draft you want to share.

2. From the Message tab of the ribbon, select Forward as OFT. This saves the draft as an .oft file and attaches it to a new email draft.

3. Add recipients in the new email, then select Send.
